Download Instagram comments

Instagram has no button to save a post’s comments. Paste the link here and download all of them — text, usernames, dates, likes and replies — as a file you can keep, search and share. No login, nothing to install, free up to 200 comments.

Instagram doesn’t let you save comments — here’s how

You can save a post to a collection, and you can download your own account data through Instagram’s settings, but there is no way to download the comments on a particular post — yours or anyone else’s — as a readable file. Screenshots work for ten comments, not for five hundred.

IGComments fills that gap. Paste a link to any public post, Reel or carousel and you get a file with every comment we can fetch, each on its own row:

  1. Copy the post’s link (Share → Copy link).
  2. Paste it above and press Get comments.
  3. Pick a format and the file downloads to your phone or computer.

Reasons people save Instagram comments

  • Keeping a record. A post’s comments can change: people delete comments, accounts disappear, and Instagram filters more over time. A dated file is a snapshot of what was there when you downloaded it.
  • Disputes and moderation. If a comment section turned abusive or someone made a claim you may need to refer back to, a file with usernames, user IDs and UTC timestamps is more useful than a screenshot.
  • Customer feedback. Launch posts and ads collect real opinions and questions. Downloading them lets the whole team read them without scrolling the app.
  • Contests and campaigns. A list of entries to check against the rules, kept alongside the result. See exporting giveaway comments.
  • Research. A dataset of public comments for coding, sentiment work or a class project.
  • Sentimental reasons. A wedding announcement, a birth, a memorial post — some comment sections are worth keeping.

Pick the right file format

FormatBest for
CSVThe universal option. Opens in Excel, Google Sheets and Numbers, imports into almost any tool, and is small enough to email.
Excel (XLSX)Working in Excel, especially if you want to sort, filter or build a pivot table straight away.
JSONDevelopers and researchers loading the data into code, with post details like the reported comment count and fetch time.

You don’t have to choose just one. All three are available from the same results page and contain the same comments and columns: the comment text, username, user ID, comment ID, UTC time, likes, reply details, mentions and hashtags.

Download on a phone

Everything works in a mobile browser — Safari on iPhone, Chrome on Android — with no app to install. Copy the link from Instagram, switch to your browser, paste and tap Get comments.

On iPhone, downloaded files land in the Files app under Downloads; from there you can open a CSV or XLSX in Numbers, Excel or Google Sheets, or share it by email or AirDrop. On Android they go to the Downloads folder. If you are fetching a very large post on the go, leave your email and open the finished file later on a computer.

Search before you download

Sometimes you don’t want everything. On the results page you can search for a word or an @username, show only questions or only replies, limit to a date range, or keep one comment per person — then download exactly what’s on screen. If you just want to find one comment, comment search is often all you need, and the totals are on the free comment counter.

How long your download is kept, and what it costs

Each fetch gets its own results link. Keep it and you can download again, in any format, for 30 days; after that the export is deleted from our servers. The file you downloaded is yours to keep for as long as you like.

Downloads are free for posts with up to 200 comments. On larger posts the first 200 are free to view and a one-time Export Pass unlocks the full download — $4.99 up to 10,000 comments, $9.99 up to 30,000, $14.99 up to 100,000. You pay once for that post; there is no account and nothing renews. Pricing details.

Frequently asked questions

Can I download comments from any Instagram post?

Any public post, Reel or carousel. Posts from private accounts can’t be downloaded because their comments aren’t publicly visible.

Does the account owner know I downloaded the comments?

No. We read publicly visible comments without logging in, so nothing appears in their notifications or activity.

Do I need a browser extension to download comments?

No. Many comment downloaders are Chrome extensions that need your Instagram session. IGComments runs entirely on the website and never asks for your Instagram login.

Can I download comments that were deleted?

No. Once a comment is deleted or hidden by Instagram it can’t be fetched by anyone. Download early if you want a record.

Can I download the comments again later?

Yes, from the same results link for 30 days. After that the export is deleted and you would need to fetch the post again.

Does the download include who liked each comment?

It includes how many likes each comment has, not the list of accounts that liked it.
