Frequently asked questions
What does IGComments do?
You paste a link to a public Instagram post or Reel; we fetch its comments (replies included) so you can download them as CSV, Excel or JSON, search and filter them, and see stats like unique commenters and most-mentioned accounts.
Is it free?
Yes for posts with up to 200 comments. Bigger posts show the first 200 free and need a one-time Export Pass (from $4.99) for the rest. No subscription.
Do I need an account or an Instagram login?
Neither. No sign-up, no password, no browser extension.
Which posts work?
Public posts, Reels and carousels. Private accounts can’t be exported.
Are replies included?
Yes. Each reply is marked with the username and comment ID it answers.
What columns are in the export?
Comment number, comment ID, username, user ID, comment text, posted time (UTC), likes, whether it is a reply, the comment and username it replies to, and the @mentions and #hashtags it contains.
Are display names, follower counts or emails included?
No. We export the public comment data only.
Why do I get fewer comments than Instagram shows?
Instagram’s count includes comments hidden from everyone — spam-filtered, hidden words, restricted accounts and deleted comments. No tool can fetch those. If the gap looks unusually large we flag it on the results page.
How long does it take?
A few seconds for most posts; a few minutes for posts with tens of thousands of comments. You can close the tab and come back to the same link, or leave your email.
How long do you keep my export?
30 days, then it is deleted. You can download it again any time until then.
Can someone ask to be removed?
Yes. Contact us with the username and we will delete their comments from stored exports.
Is it allowed to export Instagram comments?
Exporting public comments for your own records, research or giveaway checks is common practice. Don’t use the data for spam or resell it. This isn’t legal advice — see our guide on the topic.
Can it pick a giveaway winner?
IGComments exports and analyzes. To pick a random, provably fair winner, use our sister tool Pickfetti.
